Warm summer weather is being replaced with crisp air. Trees exchange emerald greens for burnt oranges, and the days of lounging by the pool side are numbered. Hot summer days are becoming fewer and the slight chill of the air puts a skip in some peoples step to finally get a break from the summer heat. Its a perfect time to call up some girlfriends to come over and hang out.
Why not bake a few treats such as snickerdoodles or pumpkin pie to get in the fall spirit, and leave your house with that fall spice smell as an added bonus.
Share a Pumpkin Treat in a Jar
A mason jar makes a beautiful presentation for a pumpkin treat, with layered no-bake pumpkin pie filling, cream cheese mousse, and a crumpled graham cracker crust (graham crackers mixed with a pat of butter, cinnamon and sugar) all topped with a dollop of whip cream, melted caramel and white chocolate chips. Because of the portable nature of the mason jar, it’s easy to bring home from a friend’s house to save for later
A DIY manicure always a good way to spend time with friends. Pick colors such a gold, plumb, maroon, burgundy, dark brown and burnt orange to match the fall season, and colorful trees out your window.
Once with your friends or even your family sitting down to scrapbook some of your summer adventures. It’s a great way to let out your creative side and reminisce on those warm summer days. At the end you’ll have a book to remember your great times forever.
Coffee Shop Hobbies
As the weather turns brisk a trip to a coffee shop is even more welcomed than ever. Next time you head to the coffee shop sit in a corner and try and draw the shop. It’s never too late to try a new hobby. This relaxing pastime you can do by yourself or to bring a friend. If drawing isn’t really your thing, this is a perfect way to get some peace and quiet to write down that story that’s been bouncing around your head for a while now. Some authors created masterpieces in a coffee shop, such as J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter
In the spirit of Halloween, Fall is a great time to watch a scary movie. Curled up with a blanket, some hot cider, and popcorn for a fun, hold-your-honey-close Autumn evening.
Try making new popcorn recipes such as
- Samoa popcorn ( mix with melted caramel, crumbled shortbread cookies and drizzle melted chocolate chips on top),
- Taco popcorn (garlic powder, onion powder, cumin, turmeric, chili powder, salt),
- White chocolate pumpkin (pumpkin pie spice and melted white chocolate chips), or
- Apple-Cinnamon popcorn (cinnamon, sugar, crushed apple crisps).
Some of my favorites are the maybe not so scary Tim Burton films: Coraline, The Nightmare before Christmas, and Corpse Bride.
Take a Hike!
Although the blazing summer sun was a great way to get a nice tan, by the time Fall comes around many people are ready for a break from the sometimes relentless heat. Hiking is a fun way to get some exercise, clear your mind, or enjoy some fresh air. Go by yourself with a friend, or family member. Some hiking destinations lead to amazing scenic overlooks, that cannot be reached by car. Or one can have a grand ole time on a short sweet hike across town for some ice cream or a pleasant picnic destination.
Fall is a great time to reconnect with friends, whether it be a stroll through a farmers market to purchase the best local produce, or just hanging out watching a romantic film, enjoy the vibrant colors and cooling air.
